Data Collection

Capsulo One does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data.

What we don't collect:

• Usage statistics or analytics
• Recording content or metadata
• System information or diagnostics
• IP addresses or device identifiers
• Email addresses or account information
• Crash reports or error logs

Local Storage

All data stays on your Mac.

What is stored locally:

• Recordings: Saved to location you choose (default: ~/Downloads/Capsulo One/)
• Transcripts: Saved alongside recordings as Markdown files
• Settings: Saved to ~/Library/Application Support/meeting-recorder/
• AI models: Bundled with app, stored in application directory

You control all files. Delete recordings at any time. Uninstalling the app removes all associated data.

Third-Party Services

Capsulo One does not use third-party services.

No external connections for:

• Analytics (Google Analytics, Mixpanel, etc.)
• Crash reporting (Sentry, Bugsnag, etc.)
• Cloud storage (iCloud, Dropbox, etc.)
• Transcription APIs (OpenAI, AssemblyAI, etc.)
• Authentication services

Transcription runs locally using bundled Whisper.cpp AI models. No internet connection required after initial download.

macOS Permissions

Capsulo One requires these macOS permissions to function:

• Screen Recording: Captures screen content. You choose what to record.
• Microphone: Records your voice when enabled. Can be muted or disabled.
• System Audio: Captures desktop audio when selected in screen picker.

These permissions are managed by macOS. Grant or revoke in System Settings → Privacy & Security.

Website Analytics

This website (capsulo.one) may use basic analytics to understand traffic.

Website data collection is separate from the Capsulo One application. The app itself collects no data.

Payment Information

Payment processing handled by third-party payment processor (Gumroad, Paddle, or similar).

What payment processors collect:

• Email address (for download link and receipt)
• Payment information (card details, billing address)
• Purchase date and amount

We do not store payment information. Refer to your payment processor's privacy policy for details.

Your Rights

Because we collect no data, there is nothing to access, modify, or delete.

All recordings and transcripts are stored locally on your device. You have complete control over this data.

If you purchased through a payment processor, contact them directly to exercise data rights related to your purchase.

Legal Obligations When Recording

Capsulo One is a tool. You are responsible for complying with recording laws in your jurisdiction.

United States:

• 38 states: One-party consent (you can record conversations you're part of)
• 12 states require all parties to consent: CA, CT, FL, IL, MD, MA, MI, MT, NV, NH, PA, WA

International: Recording laws vary by country. Check local regulations.

We recommend disclosing recording when legally required or ethically appropriate.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. Changes will be posted on this page with updated date.

Continued use of Capsulo One after changes constitutes acceptance.
